Little Chute, Wisconsin is a village in Outagamie County with a population of just over 11,000 people. The village is located on the Fox River, just upstream from Lake Winnebago. Little Chute is one of the oldest communities in Wisconsin, having been founded in 1845 by Belgian immigrants. Agriculture has always been the major industry in the area, and today dairy farming and paper manufacturing are the two largest industries in Little Chute. The paper mill in Little Chute is one of the village’s major employers. The mill was founded in 1882 and has been in operation ever since. Other businesses in Little Chute include a cheese factory, a canning company, and a metal foundry. The village is also home to several historical sites and museums, including the Little Chute Windmill, which is one of only a handful of working Dutch windmills in the United States.
