Wisconsin First Aid, CPR & AED Training | Fox Valley Safety

One of the most obvious benefits of first aid training is that it helps improve your workplace safety. In particular, it helps prevent workplace accidents and limit their severity when they do occur. When your employees are trained in first aid procedures and safety protocols, they’re more aware of safety issues around them. That level of safety awareness lets them be more careful in the workplace and spot problems before they can take a turn for the worse. That kind of safety culture isn’t just good for your employees’ physical well-being, it’s good for the overall health of your company.

Wisconsin-Approved Federal Safety Requirements for High-Risk & Remote Worksites

Fox Valley Safety is proud to be a Health & Safety Institute approved training center.  Our HSI program is a combined adult CPR, AED, and first aid training program designed specifically for the workplace first aid provider.   We present topics relevant to OSHA’s first aid standard and relevant to your business in an interactive, hands-on class.

  • What is first aid?
  • Legal considerations
  • Action during an emergency
  • Preventing bloodborne pathogen transmission
  • Primary assessment
  • Recovery position
  • Choking
  • Wound care
  • Burns
  • Bleeding and shock
  • Bone and joint injuries
  • Sudden illnesses
  • Bites and stings
  • Techniques of CPR
  • AED Protocol and use

The “3-4 Minute” Response Rule

Under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151(b), businesses must ensure that medical aid is available in ‘near proximity’ to the workplace. OSHA interprets this to mean that if a hospital or clinic is not available within a 3-4 minute response time (for serious hazards), the employer must have a person on-site who is adequately trained to render first aid. This makes CPR/AED certification a compliance necessity for many facilities in the Fox Valley that are not immediately next to emergency services.

Industries with Mandatory CPR Requirements. “While recommended for all, OSHA standards explicitly require CPR/AED training for specific high-hazard operations. Fox Valley Safety’s curriculum satisfies the training mandates for:

  • Electric Power Generation & Transmission (1910.269): For field work involving two or more employees at a work location, at least two employees must be trained in first aid/CPR. For fixed work locations (like substations), enough trained personnel must be available to reach an injured employee within four minutes.

  • Permit-Required Confined Spaces (1910.146): Employers must ensure that rescue service personnel (even in-house teams) are trained in basic first aid and CPR. At least one member of the rescue service holding a current certification must be available.

  • Logging Operations (1910.266): All logging employees must receive first aid and CPR training, ensuring they can manage trauma in remote locations.

  • Commercial Diving (1910.410): All dive team members must be trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid (American Red Cross standard or equivalent).

High-Risk Environments (Construction & Manufacturing) “Even outside of specific vertical standards, industries like Construction, Manufacturing, and Warehousing face higher risks of trauma, electrical shock, and cardiac events. Because these large facilities or job sites often face ambulance delays exceeding the critical 4-minute window, having on-site responders trained in CPR and AED usage is essential for maintaining general workplace safety compliance.

Wisconsin First Aid, CPR & AED Training

Fox Valley Safety provides First Aid, CPR, and AED training throughout Wisconsin, designed for workplace compliance, high risk industries, and remote worksites. As a Health and Safety Institute approved training center, we deliver interactive, hands on classes that meet federal safety requirements and OSHA standards.

Our Training Advantage

✔️ HSI Approved Training Center delivering interactive, hands-on classes

✔️ Programs specifically structured for the workplace first aid provider

✔️ Meets OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151(b) medical aid proximity requirements

✔️ Practical skill application ensuring employees are prepared for real emergencies

Under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151 b, employers must ensure medical aid is available in near proximity to the workplace. OSHA interprets this as a three to four minute response time for serious hazards. If emergency medical services cannot reach a facility within that window, the employer must have properly trained personnel on site. For many facilities in Appleton and across Wisconsin, CPR and AED certification is a compliance requirement.

OSHA First Aid Requirements for High Risk and Remote Worksites

OSHA requires trained first aid providers when medical services are not within a three to four minute response window. Wisconsin employers operating in large facilities, remote areas, substations, logging environments, or confined spaces must ensure adequate trained personnel are present. Industries with mandatory first aid and CPR requirements include:

  • Electric Power Generation and Transmission 1910.269
  • Permit Required Confined Spaces 1910.146
  • Logging Operations 1910.266
  • Commercial Diving 1910.410

Fox Valley Safety training supports compliance across these standards.

CPR Training in Wisconsin

Our cardiopulmonary resuscitation course provides hands on CPR training in Appleton and throughout Wisconsin. This is not a passive lecture format. Participants practice real techniques on manikins with instructor guidance.

Workplace CPR Class for OSHA Compliance

CPR training Appleton employers rely on must support OSHA compliance for high hazard industries. Many Wisconsin facilities require certified CPR classes to satisfy regulatory standards and internal safety policies. Our CPR training includes:

  • Adult CPR techniques
  • Compression and ventilation skills
  • Two rescuer coordination
  • The three to four minute response rule
  • Emergency scene management

Participants leave CPR and AED certified with documented first aid certification recognized by employers and regulatory agencies.

CPR Certification for High Hazard Industries

Certain OSHA standards require employees to hold current CPR OSHA certification. Electric power, confined space rescue teams, logging crews, and commercial dive teams must maintain trained personnel. Even outside of vertical standards, industries such as construction, manufacturing, and warehousing face increased risk of cardiac events and electrical shock. Because ambulance response may exceed four minutes, having on site responders trained in CPR is critical for maintaining compliance and protecting workers.

Fox Valley Safety provides OSHA CPR classes that meet these regulatory expectations while focusing on real world workplace application.

AED Training in Wisconsin

Fox Valley Safety provides AED training Wisconsin employers depend on for rapid cardiac response. Automated external defibrillators are essential in modern workplaces, especially in larger facilities where response time is critical.

AED Essentials and Practical Application

AED training covers:

  • AED protocol and use
  • Pad placement
  • Safety precautions
  • Team response coordination
  • Integration with CPR

Participants gain confidence in recognizing cardiac arrest, activating emergency response, and applying defibrillation safely. Employers benefit from having employees who are CPR and AED certified. Many facilities combine CPR first aid AED certification into one comprehensive program. Our training satisfies employer OSHA training expectations and supports Wisconsin workplace compliance for high risk environments.

Wisconsin Approved Federal Safety Requirements for High Risk Operations

OSHA standards explicitly require CPR and first aid training in specific industries:

  • Electric Power Generation and Transmission 1910.269 requires trained personnel capable of reaching injured employees within four minutes.
  • Permit Required Confined Spaces 1910.146 requires rescue personnel trained in first aid and CPR with at least one currently certified member available.
  • Logging Operations 1910.266 requires all logging employees to receive first aid and CPR training.
  • Commercial Diving 1910.410 requires dive team members to maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid training.

Fox Valley Safety curriculum satisfies these mandates and supports regulatory compliance across Wisconsin.
